One year on

So today marks one year living down in the South West - it's extraordinary to think that this day last year we were knee deep in snow, desperately trying to get our removal trucks unloaded! It was quite a start to our adventure, definitely a few days we'll never forget ;) We got another decent hit of snow a month ago - a little bit of drama, but it was so pretty!
It's a year that has seen two house moves (never again) a new dog, a new car to accommodate said dog, a new job for Andy and three new voluntary roles for me. In some ways it was quite intimidating having a blank canvas - we could have picked anywhere in the country to live - but I'm so glad we ended up in Blisland.
We've been made so welcome and are already starting to make friends and feel part of the community. In fact we're off out for a meal at the St Kew Inn with new pals Eileen and Dave. They don't know it yet, but we're going to be celebrating the good news I received this week - I've been offered a job with the National Trust! You might remember from earlier blogs, it was my dream to work at Lanhydrock. This position goes one better - I'm going to be a Project Coordinator, based at Lanhydrock, but also getting out and about quite a bit to the various project sites in Cornwall. I'm so chuffed and so excited!
We've got loads we want to do to our home so we're busy making plans for when budget will allow us to get started - to be fair it's not just budget, we keep skiving off of doing the house to go out exploring new beaches, pubs, walks...... And we're really looking forward to seeing the friends and family that have visits to Cornwall booked in over the next few months. We can't wait to welcome you to our home and show you some of our favourite places.

If anyone out there has ever wondered about upping sticks and making a brand new start, it's not an easy decision, and not always an easy process. But if you're a great team, if you stick together, support each other and work hard, if you can be brave and put yourselves out there, get involved with things and meet new people, it can be an amazing, confidence building, life affirming adventure - and there's nowhere better to live than beautiful Cornwall :)
