Moving out

The weather forecast was for snow country wide, but it looked as though it was going to miss Wigginton today.
It wasn’t just me being hopeful, our movers also checked and thought the same. They got off to a great start but the inevitable sideways Wigginton snow duly arrived and caused a hindrance.

Despite a hiccup with one of our trucks (multiple trucks sounds worse than it was, they decided to go with three Lutons instead of one artic as the lane to the new cottage is pretty narrow, especially the last part of the drive. We knew our Defender fitted, so the Lutons should be fine) we were out in time for us to scrub the house clean and for the grumpy inventory woman to come and check us out.
She was suitably po-faced but we were happy with the way we’d left Bishopsfield – despite nearly five years of normal wear and tear, the property is in considerably better condition overall than when we took it on.
After saying farewell to our lovely neighbours (and firm friends) Jane and Digby, armed with a kind gift of a special bottle of fizz, we headed off in separate cars to a hotel in Weston Super Mare. It was a long drive in the snow after a super tiring day and when we arrived, all concern was about the shocking forecast for the next day. The Beast from the East and storm Emma seemed to be hitting our part of Devon with full force.
An odd feeling being essentially homeless for a night, with all our possessions loaded on three vans, just hoping that we would all made it to our new home the next day!
