13th March
Andy’s first day in London today. We’d set the alarm for 4.10am but neither of us slept well.
The farm is odd in the pitch-black and so quiet. Two horses made getting through one of the gates awkward – they were surprised to see us I think.
Was a decent run to the station, just over half hour, and Andy got his 5.50 train no problem. It’s two and a half hours to Paddington, then he has a tube ride and a walk so it’s a super long day for him – which is why I want to drive him to and collect him from the station as I will only worry about him driving too tired.
Was lovely to spend a few hours with my super Mum and Dad before they headed off home to Hertfordshire. Mum has helped me to chop up our old curtains to make new ones to fit the teeny tiny non-standard windows in the cottage. I’m not the best at sewing but I’m quite chuffed with the results! Mum managed to forget a couple of bits, I think it’s so she can come back soon and meet little Dart ;-)
The cottage really is different when you’re home alone – I’m getting used to all the noises. Collected Andy just after 8pm, he’s unsurprisingly shattered. Really glad we didn't pick a rental any further away from the station, and something for us to consider when we start looking to buy....

The farm specialises in minature and standard Shetland ponies. They are running around all over the place and are super gorgeous. A new foal has recently been born so I'll try to get a picture soon.
